In 1934, a film was made dedicated to the Great Jubilee of the Year of Our Lord 1933, which – with the participation of Cardinal Jean Verdier, Archbishop of Paris – was produced by the Central Committee of the Holy Year. The film was entitled Le vrai visage du Vatican: Jubilaeum („The True Face of the Vatican: The Jubilee”). Adolph Zukor was responsible for its production for Paramount Pictures.
The documentary was shown at Le Paramount Theatre in Paris (currently Le Pathé Palace) in 1935. In the trade press, it was discussed together with photographs taken by the papal photographer Alberto Felici (the studio of Giuseppe Felici, his father), for example in Ciné-Miroir (issue 519 of March 15, 1935). We present these photographs – showing above all the grandeur and magnificence of the papal ceremonies – to our Readers.
